Olympic Champion Razambek Jamalov Undergoes 10th Surgery, Out for the Season

Olympic champion Razambek Jamalov of Uzbekistan has undergone the tenth surgery of his wrestling career. The operation, performed in Moscow, was on his knee — marking the fifth time he has gone under the knife for the same joint.

Jamalov, who won Olympic gold in Paris 2024, had hoped to compete at the 2025 World Championships in Zagreb. However, an old cruciate ligament injury, first sustained before last year’s Ranking Series in Hungary, flared up again and forced him to opt for another procedure.

"Life without wrestling seems empty to me," said the 26-year-old from Khasavyurt. "Sometimes I doubt whether it's worth continuing, but I always tell myself to keep working and believe in better days."

Jamalov is aiming for a comeback in early 2026.
